Fort Collins Prenatal Care
Prenatal care begins early on in your first trimester. These check-ups allow us to monitor your baby’s health and your progress, as well as assisting you with discomfort, any tests you need, and questions that you have.
We recommend 8 check-ups throughout your pregnancy. These visits come about every four weeks, beginning around 6-10 weeks. As your delivery date approaches, you will have weekly routine check-ups. The time of each visit will vary, based on the services you need, such as ultrasound, physical exams, or lab panels.
We know how exciting it is to have your family present, so we welcome partners, mothers, fathers, and siblings to sit in on your prenatal checkups. There’s nothing more magical than all sitting in a room together and hearing baby’s heartbeat!
Labor & Birth Care at Poudre Valley Hospital
Our number one goal is to provide comprehensive obstetric care, individualized to each patient’s unique situation and needs. This is why our patients deliver at the Birthing Center at Poudre Valley Hospital.
Complicated Births & Planned Cesarean Sections
The Poudre Valley Hospital offers high-risk obstetric care, as its Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is one of the best in the nation. If you need intervention, you can trust that our expert obstetricians will be there to explain every step of the way and will ensure the safety of your baby and you. We’re here to support you and provide the obstetric care needed for all Fort Collins women, including those with pre-existing conditions or health concerns that make pregnancies more high-risk.
For uncomplicated, vaginal births, we get just as excited! You may have heard that OB-GYNs don’t support natural birth, but that’s simply not the case at A Woman’s Healing Center. We welcome your birth plans and look forward to discussing how you want your babies birth to go. Our Fort Collins obstetricians will support your labor however feels best to you, whether naturally, without the support of medication or through a variety of pain relief measure. We are welcoming to family and support persons (such as doulas) in the room and have even had dads catch babies!
The Birth You Want
Because our practice is independently owned and operated, we’re able to develop quality relationships with our patients. All three physicians at A Woman’s Healing Center are highly experienced at delivering babies. We encourage our patients to meet every doctor, but you can choose one primary physician to see throughout your pregnancy.
Approximately 4 to 6 weeks after delivery, you will have a postpartum visit with one of our doctors. However, if you have a cesarean birth, we may want to see you sooner to evaluate the incision. Our obstetricians will make sure that your body has recovered from pregnancy and birth, and can be there to help answer questions about breastfeeding or emotional needs post-baby.
Postpartum appointments are a time for you to bring up any questions or concerns you may have about the healing process. You are always welcome to call us sooner, or after your appointment, if you have concerns or need additional support.
We are proud to offer monthly birthing classes. Our classes are designed for expectant parents who want to learn more about childbirth. Class is offered to mom and her birth partner(s) over two consecutive nights from 6:00 to 9:30 p.m. at our office.
Our teacher, Ali Benjamin, RNC, BSN, will gently guide you through what you need to know to make your baby’s birth as safe and joyous as possible. A mother herself, Ali is regarded by our Fort Collins OB-GYNs as exceptionally knowledgeable, friendly, and a down-to-earth communicator.
Breastfeeding is a wonderful thing not just for your baby’s health, but also for your own health. In addition to numerous health benefits, it also promotes a positive relationship between you and your baby. However, just because breastfeeding is natural, it doesn’t mean it always comes easy. If you’re struggling with breastfeeding, we’re here to help!
Whether your breastfeeding goal is 3 weeks, 3 months, or 3 years, the OB-GYNs at A Woman’s Healing Center can provide support, encouragement, and referrals to other services as needed.
After you’ve been discharged from the hospital, if you have concerns about how breastfeeding is going or how your baby is doing, please call our office right away at (970) 419-1111. We’re happy to answer any questions you might have and want to make sure things keep going well.
Don’t Just Take Our Word for It
While we’re very proud of our doctors, what makes us feel best is knowing that our patients are happy and healthy! Take a look at what some of our OB-GYN clients have to say about their pregnancy care with us at A Woman’s Healing Center.
“I’m a first time mom and was first time patient at this clinic and from the first time I met Dr. Skorberg I just knew I loved her. She knows what she’s doing, I’ve never felt uncomfortable and I always feel like she covers things before I have to ask… I’ve had an incredible experience at this clinic and highly recommend it! I look forward to all my appointments!”
“The doctors here are by far the best I have found! All the ladies are very caring and each of them bring their own unique touch to the business! I was very satisfied with the prenatal care I received and felt very comfortable asking questions… I will definitely be returning for future exams and will be more than comfortable having them assist with any future pregnancies!”
“Since having my daughter in 2016, I have moved to a different city and I can’t seem to find anyone I like as well as the doctors at A Woman’s Healing Center, I suppose I might just drive up to Fort Collins whenever I need an OBGYN appointment! An additional HUGE plus for me was all the help I got with breastfeeding from Dr.Grove as well! I was able to breastfeed both my kids to about 11.5 months and you guys supported me all the way!”
