Moving Away from Epic
A recent NBC News article has given new insight into why so many medical professionals are “hanging up their stethoscopes.” While younger generations are becoming more focused on other STEM careers, like engineering, others are leaving because of electronic records. Some healthcare professionals even felt they were being turned into easily replaceable “cogs” by those electronic records.
So why are other doctors staying? Because they have a deep passion for connecting with others and helping people, just like us! And as many of you may remember, we recently started keeping electronic records at our office. What do we think about how this affects our doctors and our office flow?
Our Epic Mistake
We goofed, and we’re sorry. In June of 2018, we switched to an electronic medical records system called Epic. Among the bad results were unhappy patients, doctors, and staff. As a result, we have decided that we will be returning to our former methods. Keeping physical copies of patient records is more suited to our particular OB-GYN practice.
We remain an independent practice and are not owned or operated by UC Health or any other organization (and we’re proud to stay that way). In the meantime, we will continue to explore additional ways to make AWHC run more efficiently not only for ourselves but for you too.
We pride ourselves on our personal touch, and we believe that’s what makes medicine fun! If you have questions or concerns about what this means for your medical records, please reach out and get in contact with us. We’ll be happy to guide you through the process and any changes.
