PRP Hair Loss Treatment
As many of you know, as a part of our new aesthetics offerings, we’ve recently added Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) to the list. We’ve shown you how it can help you achieve the young, glowing skin of your dreams, with procedures like the Lunchtime Face-Lift. Today, we’re excited to share another area where PRP can deliver amazing results: Hair Loss Treatment.
But before we dive into the treatment, let’s talk more about hair loss and its causes. It’s ideal to have a strong understanding of the underlying cause of your hair loss in order to choose the right treatment for you.
What Causes Hair Loss?
According to an article from Medline Plus, we all lose about 100 hairs daily. That may sound like a lot, but it’s actually very normal, and, in most cases, it grows back. But that’s not the case for everyone.
Hair loss can be caused by a number of things, such as:
- Old age
- Certain diseases like Lupus or Diabetes
- A family history of hair loss
- Poor diet and nutrition
No matter the cause of hair loss, we understand that it can really take away from your confidence. For hair loss due to old age, some diseases, or genetics, PRP Hair Loss Treatment can make a noticeable difference in the thickness of your hair and can help you to regain confidence.
What is PRP?
PRP stands for Platelet Rich Plasma. Platelets in the blood are important for helping blood clot, but they also have growth proteins that help heal injuries. These proteins are what provide the regenerative effects in our skin and hair treatments.
How Do You Get the Platelets?
PRP serum is created by first drawing some of your own blood. Then, we spin the blood very fast in a centrifuge to remove the red blood cells, but retaining the plasma with all it’s helpful proteins. This process takes place in a matter of minutes, while you wait. Once we’ve separated out the plasma, we’re able to use it as a serum for your procedure, whether it’s on your skin or in your hairline, that is unique to you.
What is the Treatment Like?
Once we have developed the serum, we will numb areas of your hairline to reduce discomfort, then we inject the PRP serum into areas of your scalp where you are experiencing hair loss or thinning.
The number of treatments that you receive may vary, depending on your level of hair loss and/or doctor’s recommendations. If you’re curious about what the treatment really looks like, watch this video from the show The Doctors, where one of the hosts, Dr. Ashton, receives this treatment.
Does PRP Hair Loss Treatment Really Work?
New forms of treatment may seem too good to be true, but we have reason to believe that PRP can really help with hair loss. In fact, a recent study showed significant results in 11 individuals who experienced some form of hair loss. It even concluded that PRP is a cost-effective and simple treatment for individuals with hair loss.
