What patients are saying

I came in with what turned out to be an acute and aggressive yeast infection. Not only did Dr. Grove listen extremely carefully to my medical history, and fear of having contracted an STD, the therapy provided effectively cured my infection within 3 weeks.

Frequently asked questions

What do I do if I think I have been exposed to an STD?

With STDs, if you’ve had sex with someone who is infected, you’ve been exposed.  If a sexual partner has told you that they have an STD or if you’ve had unprotected sex with someone whose history you don’t know, please call our office right away to make an appointment.

If you think you may have been exposed to an STD, it is important to get tested right away and not wait for symptoms. Many people with STDs do not know they are infected until they get very sick; it is better to get tested and start treatment early.

The biggest thing to keep in mind is not to panic.  We’re here to be your partner in testing and creating a treatment plan if necessary.  You are not alone.

Does A Woman's Healing Center provide emergency contraception?

Yes, emergency contraceptive options are available through A Woman’s Healing Center.

If you are 17 or older, you may go to any pharmacy and purchase a pill without a prescription that will prevent pregnancy if you have just had unprotected intercourse. This medication is marketed under the names Plan B and Next Choice. You will have to ask the pharmacist for them and show identification to establish your age.

There is also a new pill that protects for up to 5 days after unprotected intercourse called Ella. Ella is only available by prescription, and you may call our office during office hours to get a prescription for Ella. You may also call A Woman’s Healing Center for a Plan B prescription (during office hours) if you are under 17, or if you need a prescription to have your cost covered by your health savings account (HSA).

Is abnormal menstrual bleeding something to be worried about?

Whether you’re bleeding infrequently, too little, or too much, it’s important to bring up irregular menstrual bleeding with your doctor.  You can bring it up during an annual exam or can schedule an appointment at any time if abnormal bleeding is concerning to you.

Keep a log of your bleeding and bring it to your appointment. Record details such as spotting, medication usage, and pelvic pain. You can expect your doctor to take a careful history, perform an examination, and possibly order lab testing and an ultrasound to determine the cause of the irregularity.
