Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs)

What You Need to Know About Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs)

Routine screening for STDs (sometimes referred to as Sexually Transmitted Infections, or STIs) is very important for the health of all sexually active women. A Woman’s Healing Center offers routine STD screening as well as personalized counseling and discussion regarding STD risk, transmission, and treatment.

If you test positive for an STD, the next step is to consider further testing and then to get treatment as recommended by your provider. In addition, inform your sex partners, as they will need to be evaluated and treated, too. If you believe that you may have put yourself at risk or if you are having STD symptoms, make an appointment for testing as soon as possible.

Sexually Transmitted Diseases include:

  • Chlamydia
  • Gonorrhea
  • Genital herpes
  • Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection
